Chapter 2: https://tetractys-translations.blogspot.com/2018/11/chapter-2-deadly-task.html

He’d just got here and already he’d been beset by too many problems.

What is beset?? /google it/

beset adjective [ after verb ]

having a lot of trouble with something, or having to deal with a lot of something that causes problems

With the amount of traffic nowadays, even a trip across town is beset by/with dangers.

Well OK, the more I know \0/

[Task objective: study the information in the task props. When refining medicine, medicinal qi will be released and this system will collect it automatically.]
[Completion time: one month.]

[Punishment for failure: obliteration.]

The system already said it before hand but still that’s harsh, fail to learn and refine? goodbye!

Gu Zuo tried to tamp down on his panic as he reviewed those memories.

Another new word I haven’t heard, I think I know it by reading it but still /google it/

tamp down
— phrasal verb with tamp
[ T ] to reduce the amount, level, size, or importance of something:

As the price of gasoline rose above $3 a gallon, consumers cut their spending elsewhere, tamping down profits in retail, travel and other industries.
The party retained power by boosting the economy and tamping down corruption.

I got it right but I see that’s how you use it..Hmm..

Gu Zuo carefully parsed through each memory

I thought it was a typo, but its a legit word!

parse
verb
parsed; parsing
to examine in a minute way :

analyze critically having trouble parsing … explanations for dwindling market shares— R. S. Anson

So just how could it be possible for his yao beads to be dug out, and die so miserably in his bed? No one even came to visit him.

Wha– Dug out?!?! That’s gruesome one–

But of course there was a plot twist to this sordid tale.

Somehow this reaction become translate together lol, but its okay, its reading with me anyway, learn together.

sordid
[sawr-did]
adjective
1.morally ignoble or base; vile: sordid methods.
2.meanly selfish, self-seeking, or mercenary.
3.dirty or filthy.

He was also gay and had fallen for Bai Wenjun!

Screw you Qi Feng! Vile being in the name of blinded with love you killed innoncent guy! This is the dark side of ‘love’, not all love is pure and good, there’s twisted one too sadly.

This was Qi Feng’s final straw.

Ckckck this world isn’t revolve around you Qi Feng guy, evaluate and change into better person than using dirty tricks.

Qi Feng was gorgeous and flamboyant like a preening peacock.

Preening
Mostly associated with females however also seen in males, preening is the act of trying to make oneself more attractive to a potential mate or person of the opposite sex.

Mating–, Qi Feng- are you in mating season?

After that, Qi Feng said a single sentence: “If you think about telling my parents, just tell them I did it.”

Whoa even though he’s a jerk he’s not a coward, head on admitting his crime?, well I wonder if its true when everything folds out. I’m waiting your “Yes I killed him because I resent him a lot” OK?

The wounds in Qi Tianyou’s hands bled incessantly, but the pain in his heart was unbearable. He didn’t understand how he could have “stolen Qi Feng’s man.” He only considered Bai Wenjun his friend. At the same time, he didn’t want to tell Qi Feng’s parents, who were the heads of the Qi Family, to avoid causing heartbreak. So he could only allow himself to be filled with sorrow and retreat to his room.

GAHHH WHAT A SAINT ADFISDFOIFHSFSK , HOW COULD YOU STAY QUIETLY AND DIE, IS THIS WHY THAT PHRASE “GOOD PEOPLE DIED EARLY”?? AAAA SO MAD ALSJADKHA.

It wasn’t long before the news spread that someone dug out Qi Tianyou’s yao beads. He would only say he didn’t know who did it, but Qi Feng’s actions weren’t hidden at all. How could anyone in the Qi Family residence not find out?

THANK GOODNESS THEY WEREN’T STUPID! AND QI FENG SO SHAMELESS ASDJAKDJ ITS LIKE PASTING WORD “I KILLED MY ADOPT BRO AND SO WHAT” AT HIS FOREHEAD.

Qi Feng was also the beloved youngest son of the heads of the Qi Family. Besides being reprimanded with a time-out for a few days, there was nothing else to be done.

WTH , I TAKE BACK MY THANK GOODNESS, BEGONE YOU AASDHAD I’M MAD ABOUT THIS AAAAA

Qi Tianyou, without his yao beads, lost all prospects as a pharmacist. His status plummeted and gradually people ignored him. He was abandoned in this little courtyard and became very lonely.

WAIT–,  he’s not dead yet?? what?? he’s dying then forgotten, aaa he doesn’t deserved to be tortured like that!! better easy death rather than died in loneliness like that /holds kokoro/

As for Bai Wenjun, he was very cool-headed. Since Qi Tianyou no longer had yao beads, he couldn’t become his companion. Naturally, he wouldn’t entertain any more thoughts on pursuing him. Instead, his attentions shifted to the beautiful Qi Feng.

WTH YOU ‘BETRAYER’!! HOW COULD YOU PURSUE EVILMAN THAT KILLED YOUR ‘FIRST LOVE’???? CK, THAT’S NOT LOVE YOU WERE SEARCHING FOR POWER. You’re not helping at all, you’re rubbing salt on my wounds.

He didn’t blame anyone, and believed that everything that happened was due to his own choices. Though he still couldn’t understand how some people could be so despicable.
TIAN YOU AAAAAA , YOU CAN BLAME THAT INHUMAN BEING !!
Same Tian you, how could someone be despicable? if only everyone is humane.
At this point, mired in depression, Qi Tianyou committed suicide.
QAQ AAAAA TIANYOUUUUU
ASUHDIAUHASD
AAAAA R..REST IN PEACE BUDDY /CRIED/
I..I HOPE YOU WELL IN THERE
You did well Tian You QAQ
mired
adjective
to be involved in a difficult situation, especially for a long period of time
He couldn’t see any way forward, and didn’t want to further ruin his image in everyone’s memories. So he chose to die instead of being an utter disappointment to them.
AKDJHAHDAK I.. Q A Q
this is so sad ToT
Gu Zuo massaged his head and thought that this guy was a complete idiot!
Sorrow, misfortune, and anger are unavoidable. However, he only had one life. Living was better than being dead, why would he want to die?
Kinda agree with you why he didn’t defense himself? but still he’s too pitiful. Living better than died when you want to live tho Gu Zuo, he’s already in not right mind everything looks hopeless I think that’s why he choose that.
It can only be said that Qi Tianyou’s luck was horrible and he was too naive.
His luck was horrible (2) plus his personality.
Since he would later be using Qi Tianyou’s identity, if he got the chance in the future, he could exact revenge. The Qi Family kindly raised him, so breaking ties with everyone was enough. But Qi Feng and Bai Wenjun, those two shits [8] must pay with their lives!
GOGOGO I SUPPORT YOU GU ZUO!! GO FOR IT!! LET THEM EAT SH*T
HELP TIAN YOU REVENGE THAT HE DIDN’T CHOOSE.
PLEASE DON’T FALL IN LOVE WITH THAT SCUM IN PROCESS OK??
DON’T FORGOT YOUR GOAL!
HUFF…CHAPTER 2 END AND I FEEL MAD? TIAN YOU DOESN’T DESERVE IT!! ADSJHAKA , I WILL READ CHAPTER 3.
/Read translation note/
In this genre, you’ll often come across rankings in terms of power or ability. The higher the rank, the stronger it would be. In this case, 人级 ren ji is the lowest rank.
Hmm I just know this
饞佐 – Gu (to look after) Zuo (to assist, accompany). 齐天佑 – Qi (neat, even) Tian (day, sky, heaven) You (to assist, protect).
Ahh it’s indeed similar. Wish you luck Gu Zuo I hope you’re more lucky.
给 X 脸面, gei X lian mian, directly translates to giving X “face.”
I see so that’s the chinese word for giving face.
断袖, short for 断袖之癖, duan xiu zhi pi, literally translates to cut sleeve.
I know the backstory of cutsleeve but it’s my first time seeing the character.

I write a fiction!

Recently I write something! it’s called the daughter of typical protagonist!, should I post it on here too? hahaha

It’s on ScribbleHub and NovelUpdates.

I hope with this I can explain things well and become more consistent.
The story is nothing too serious, just a random story a girl was transmigrated as daughter of a protagonist. She’s tired of everything and becoming more pro at tsukkomi.

I’m still thinking way to develop this story.
